The winless Adelaide Crows host the Melbourne Demons at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday with both sides desperately in need a victory in the AFL Round 10 contest.

The Crows and Dees sit in the bottom four at the mid-way point of the season. The Demons have a game in hand and hope of making the finals, but the Crows have yet to win in the opening nine rounds.

Adelaide Crows Form

Adelaide sit at the bottom of the ladder without a win to their name. The Crows are three wins behind the 17th placed side in Sydney Swans with a shocking percentage of 56.

They seemed to have found minor improvement when losing to St Kilda by 23 points and pushing Essendon Bombers close before going down by three points. But they were humiliated last week by a team who sits in the bottom five themselves in North Melbourne.

Adelaide Crows Team News

On the selection front, it is expected that coach Matthew Nicks will swing the axe after a disappointing performance against the Kangaroos. Elliot Himmelberg looks on shaky ground, as does Tyson Stengle.

Melbourne Demons Form

Melbourne Demons were predicted to bounce back into the finals picture after a disappointing 2019, but there poor form from last year has rolled into this campaign too.

They sit in 15th place with only three wins from eight games and are coming off the back of one of their worst displays in the last five years last week when losing to Port Adelaide by 51 points.

Christian Petracca and Max Gawn have carried the Demons all season. Clayton Oliver, Jake Lever and Steven May have also contributed for the Dees, but too much has been left up to too few.

Melbourne Demons Team News

Expect Simon Goodwin to make wholesome changes this week with Tom McDonald and Angus Brayshaw under threat. Both men have been unable to recapture their stellar 2018 form.

Adelaide Crows vs Melbourne Demons Match Up

The battle of the two inside beasts in Christian Petracca and Matt Crouch will go a long way to deciding this game.

Crouch has been steady again in 2020, averaging 24.5 disposals a game and essentially carrying the Adelaide midfield. Petracca has taken his game to a whole new level this season and has drawn comparisons to Richmond Tigers champion Dustin Martin.

He averages 24.3 disposals a game, similar to  Crouch, but where he stands out is the fact that he ranks 4th in total score involvements per game, 20th in Goal assists per game, and 9th in effective disposals per game this season.

If one of these two can really get on top of the other throughout the game, their teams look a strong chance of winning.
