The 2020 AFL first goalscorer is one of the most popular betting markets with value on a number of players. Who will get the opening goal of the final?

Your 2020 first goalscorer tips for the AFL Grand Final between Richmond Tigers and Geelong Cats are below.

The first goalscorer is paid out simply on whoever kicks the first goal of the match, no matter which team it is.

AFL Grand Final First Goalscorer Tips

Jack Riewoldt (Richmond Tigers)

If there is anyone from Richmond that will get the Tigers pumping early, it is Jack Riewoldt who has a great record in his two Grand Finals to date.

He kicked two goals in the 2017 Grand Final and five goals last year against GWS.

The Cats will likely line-up Lachie Henderson on Riewoldt. He can be a little slow off the mark, and can be exposed as he was when Riewoldt kicked the first goal in the clash between the sides earlier in the season.

Tom Hawkins (Geelong Cats)

Geelong's likely first goal scorer does look to be Tom Hawkins, who is the 2020 Coleman Medalist.

He was double teamed against Richmond when they clashed earlier in the season and will likely be once again, but expect him to have learned a lot from that play and to be a new man in this game.

When Hawkins is on, Geelong rarely lose, so an early go will get his confidence sky high.

Gary Ablett (Geelong Cats)

Do not be surprised to see the ball end up in Gary's hands early in this match. If he kicks an early goal, the Gabba Stadium will erupt.

He is playing the last match of his career, fittingly in a Grand Final, and could well be the star of the side that gets them over line if he can show some of that brilliance he displayed last week against the Lions.

At 18.00, he could be a sneaky chance.
