Brisbane Lions vs Western Bulldogs Predictions

After a disappointing loss to minor premiers Melbourne Demons last week, Brisbane get a second chance at finals glory and are tipped to make home advantage count in the Semi-Final.

Western Bulldogs ended their poor form when beating Essendon Bombers in last week's Elimination Final, but this is much tougher.

  • Brisbane Lions have won their last 9 matches at the Gabba.
  • Brisbane Lions have won 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Brisbane Lions' Joe Daniher has kicked 3+ goals in his last 4 matches at the Gabba.
  • Western Bulldogs have failed to cover the line in their last 5 matches at the Gabba.
  • Western Bulldogs have lost 3 of their last 4 matches.

Head to Head

The Bulldogs have won six of the last eight clashes against the Lions, including earlier this season in a 73-54 victory at Mars Stadium.

The last time these two faced off at the Gabba was in August of last year when the Lions came away four goal winners with a 96-72 success.

Brisbane Lions Form

The Lions were a tall man down last week against Melbourne Demons with Dan McStay going down in the first quarter, and it showed.

The Brisbane forward line was always going to struggle against the all-star Melbourne defence from then on and they slipped to a 93-60 loss in the qualifying final.

Brisbane now return to the Gabba where they clearly play their best footy. They have won nine in a row in front of their home crowd.

Brisbane Lions Team News

The Lions are going to miss Dan McStay this week through injury, while Jaxon Prior has been left out.

In come Jack Payne and Deven Robertson.

Ryan Lester and Callum Ah Chee are listed among the emergencies after injury.

Western Bulldogs Form

The Bulldogs' form really dipped in their final three rounds of the home and away season as they lost to Essendon Bombers, Hawthorn and Port Adelaide.

That run not only cost them the top spot on the ladder and the minor premiership, but also a top four spot in such a condensed ladder.

The Dogs made amends of sorts last week against Essendon with a star performance from Cody Weightman contributing to a 85-36 win to keep their season alive.

Western Bulldogs Team News

The Bulldogs are unchanged.

Zaine Cordy was a late withdrawal last week against the Dons, but has been listed among the emergencies along with Jason Johannisen.
