Carlton can keep their finals hopes alive with a win over the GWS Giants at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.

The Blues sit with a win-loss record of 4-6 after the first 10 rounds of the season and come off a 16 point loss to the Sydney Swans last weekend.

They take on a Giants outfit that were also on the receiving end of a loss in Round 10, going down to Fremantle by 34. They have now lost four of their past five and sit at 5-5 as we head towards the second half of the season.

Despite their woes that have led to frustrations from coach Michael Voss, as well as their large cohort of fans, the Blues have won four of their past six and have the clearance and inside 50 game to hurt the Giants.

Voss just needs to find the right formula inside 50m and will be looking for some small to medium forwards to chip in, avoiding the reliance on Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay.

Take the Blues in the head to head betting. Tom Green will find a stack of footy for the Giants, while Patrick Cripps can have an influence at the coal-face.

  • Carlton have won four of their past six matches.
  • The Giants have lost four of their past five
  • The Blues have won four of the past six between the two sides.
  • Patrick Cripps has averaged 38 disposals from his past three encounters against GWS.

Head to Head

Carlton have taken out four of the past six matches between the two sides but it was the Giants the last time they met. That came at ENGIE Stadium in Round 17 last season, a 12 point margin in a high scoring game. The Blues claimed the Round 6 fixture at Marvel Stadium by 19 in another high scoring match.

Patrick Cripps has averaged 38 disposals from his past three encounters against the Giants, while Tom Green has averaged 33 from his past four. Jesse Hogan kicked a total of eight goals from the two games last season.

Carlton Blues Form Analysis

Carlton have struggled to impact the scoreboard in 2025 with second half fadeouts proving to be costly. In seven of their 10 matches they have registered less than 80 points, despite ranking 3rd for clearances and 4th for inside 50s.

Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay combined for five goals last weekend but the ground level support wasn't there with the Blues kicking just nine for the game. Curnow has 21 goals from nine matches in 2025.

Adam Cerra had 34 disposals in the loss to the Swans, while George Hewett had 27. Hewett is averaging 29 disposals this season, while Cerra is at 26.

Carlton Blues Team News

Carlton are set to lose Jack Silvagni and Jordan Boyd from the side that travelled to Sydney last weekend. Blake Acres, Alex Cincotta and Zac Williams are edging closer to a return, while Sam Docherty has been racking up big numbers in the VFL.

GWS Giants Form Analysis

GWS have lost four of their past five matches, including a couple that they were expected to win. Eight of their 10 matches in 2025 have been decided by margins of 39.5 points or less.

Adam Kingsley’s side rank 3rd for disposals per game but this has not translated to inside 50s, ranking 14th. Tom Green and Lachie Whitfield are both averaging over 30+ disposals but have not necessarily hurt opposition sides.

The Giants are averaging just 71 points per game in the last five rounds, with their win their 105-101 win over Geelong the outlier in that period. Jesse Hogan booted seven goals in that match but could only manage one last weekend against the Dockers from limited opportunities.

GWS Giants Team News

Toby McMullin was subbed out of the Fremantle match at half-time with a groin injury. He is set to miss. Stephen Coniglio is edging closer to a return. James Leake, Harry Royston and Harrison Oliver performed well in the VFL last weekend and are in the frame for selection.
