North Melbourne can overcome some poor recent form against Carlton in AFL Round 15.

The Kangaroos have been improvers since being smashed by the Blues earlier this season. They come off a six-point loss to Fremantle at Optus Stadium, with a second quarter lapse costing them in the end.

Carlton also headed west in Round 14, setting up a 34 point win by kicking 10 of the first 11 goals of the match. The Blues head in with a win-loss record of 6-7 and are 10th on the ladder, while the 3-9-1 Kangaroos are 16th.

But North have won two of their past four, while they have tightened up defensively. Six of their past seven matches have been decided by 10 points or less and they have the clearance and contested possession game to stick with Carlton this time around. Take them with the start. Harry Sheezel will find plenty of the footy, while Carlton’s Zac Williams can bob up with a couple of goals.

  • Six of North Melbourne’s past seven matches have been decided by 10 points or less.
  • North Melbourne lead the competition for clearances in the past five rounds and are 2nd for contested possessions.
  • Harry Sheezel had 30+ disposals last week and 30+ the last time these two sides met.
  • Zac Williams kicked four goals the last time he faced North Melbourne and has nine from his past four.

Head to Head

Carlton have won the past five matches between the two sides by an average margin of 46 points. They were 82-point winners in Round 6 this season, kicking a whopping, 24.9.153. Charlie Curnow and Zac Williams each kicked four goals in that match.

North Melbourne’s Harry Sheezel has averaged 34 disposals in his past four matches against Carlton. Luke Davies Uniacke and Carlton’s Patrick Cripps have averaged 25+.

Carlton Blues Form Analysis

Carlton have won their past two and were eight point winners over Essendon prior to the Eagles victory. Low scoring has been a feature of Carlton’s recent matches and they are averaging 73 points per game in the past six weeks.

Mitch McGovern was swung forward last weekend and booted three goals, while Lachie Fogarty also kicked three. Zac Williams kicked two and has nine from his past four. He was subbed out injured in one of those.

The Blues rank just 11th for clearances over the past five rounds and 13th for disposals. George Hewett had 35 disposals against West Coast and Adam Cerra had 30. Hewett has had 25+ in all but one match in 2025. Cerra is averaging 27 over the past four rounds.

Carlton Blues Team News

Carlton’s spearhead, Charlie Curnow, was subbed out with calf tightness at half time of the Eagles match and will be a watch at training. Hudson O’Keefe injured his hamstring in the same game and will miss. Harry McKay is set to return and will help fill the void left by Curnow. Jordan Boyd has some solid form in the VFL and will be considered.

North Melbourne Kangaroos Form Analysis

Despite winning just two of their past five, North Melbourne have been big improvers in comparison to early season form that was on display the last time these two sides met.

Six of their past seven matches have been decided by margins of 10 points or less, yielding two wins, a draw and four losses. In that period, they have tightened up their defence, conceding an average of 76 points per game. In their first six matches, that figure was over 100. North top the competition for clearances in the past five matches and are 2nd for contested possessions.

Nick Larkey kicked three goals against Fremantle and has 27 from 13 matches this season. Paul Curtis is also going at an average of 2+ in 2025. Harry Sheezel had 32 disposals against Fremantle and has gone 25+ in all but two matches this year.

Zane Duursma and Will Phillips were two of North Melbourne's best in the VFL against Port Melbourne last weekend, while Finnbar Maley booted three goals. Jackson Archer is in the frame to return from a hamstring injury.
