Collingwood vs Carlton Predictions

Neither team have been in standout form but it is more noticeable from the Blues, who have struggled in their attack and scoring. Collingwood could win this, but the line is the best play.

  • Despite losing 4 of their last 5, Collingwood still have averaged over 80 points per game.
  • Carlton have allowed their opponents an average of 95.75 in their last 4 games with two teams scoring 100 or more.
  • The Blues have averaged only 79.8 points in their last 5 losses.
  • The Game Total Under is currently at 47% on the year across the league and will need to regress to the middle sooner rather than later.

Head to Head

Collingwood own the head to head numbers in this matchup 7-2 since the beginning of the 2019 season.

The most recent clash was in Round 8 which Collingwood won with a narrow six-point Margin 85-79.

Collingwood Form

Collingwood broke a 4 game losing streak dating back to after their Round 15 Bye with a shaky 26 point victory over the Tigers last weekend.

Their opponent had only 1 less scoring shot in the game with the difference being the accuracy in front of the sticks.

Nick Daicos was again his brilliant best notching up 42 disposals together with 12 score involvements and 12 clearances in a best on ground performance.

The Pies big men dominated the Hit-Outs with the mids cleaning up well around. There is still though a question mark on the defensive structures with the team giving up an average of 100.3 points over their last 5 matchups.

Collingwood Team News

The Pies should welcome back Beau McCreery, Nathan Kreuger and Joe Richards together with Oleg Markov in a massive boost for the team.

Jordan De Goey has an ongoing groin issue and will need to pass a fitness test to line up.

Carlton Form

The Blues went down to Port Power at home last weekend in a 79-65 loss which makes it 3 losses in the past 4 outings following a 5 game win streak prior to that.

In those three losses they have allowed their opponent to score 100 or more twice whilst their own score of 65 last weekend was equal-lowest total of the entire season.

Something is up with Carlton and scoring only 1 goal in a whole half of footy is never going to win you games.

Carlton Team News

David Cuningham has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury but the Blues are hopeful that Blake Acres and Harry McKay will be able to suit up against the Pies.

Caleb Marchbank will also undergo a fitness test to be available for selection.

Verdict

Carlton's defence right now is worse than Collingwood's. On the Scoring end the Pies are consistent and their midfield is elite. Expect them to get the job done covering the double digit line.
