Collingwood vs Gold Coast Suns Predictions

An intriguing game between the Pies and Suns awaits. Collingwood are in desperate need of a win, while the Suns have bounced back to form with a victory over Sydney last week.

Collingwood have lost their last five matches and sit second last on the ladder. But Gold Coast struggle to win away from Queensland and that tips the balance the way of the Magpies.

  • Collingwood have won the last 6 matches against Gold Coast Suns
  • Three of the last 6 matches have had a 40+ point winning margin
  • Gold Coast Suns have lost 15 of their last 16 interstate matches

Head to Head

Collingwood have dominated recent meetings, winning all of their last six clashes, including three of them by 40+ points.

Last year, the Pies won a low-scoring tussle 68-46 at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Collingwood Form

Collingwood have not won since the opening round where the defeated Carlton, losing the last five in a row.

Since their one point after the siren loss to the Brisbane Lions, the Magpies' season has done nothing but sink.

They are still kicking reasonably high scores, going down 109-85 to a firing Bombers squad on Anzac Day last week.

Now coming up against the Suns, who they have a great record against, should be a match that they can get back on track.

De Goey possibly returning to the side makes a huge difference to their line-up,

Collingwood Team News

Jordan De Goey comes back in after concussion in one of a number of changes for the Pies. He will give Collingwood the explosiveness that they are missing.

Chris Mayne is also back, Mark Keane returns from suspension and there is a debut for Caleb Poulter.

Trey Ruscoe, Will Kelly, Jay Rantall, Tyler Brown and Jack Madgen are all left out.

Mason Cox has not been selected due to a hamstring injury. Defender Jeremy Howe is still up to three weeks away from coming back into this side.

Gold Coast Suns Form

The Suns had the advantage of playing a young and injured Sydney Swans side last week at home and they really did put that side to the sword with a 40-point win.

That win came off the back of three losses to the Western Bulldogs, Carlton and Adelaide Crows.

If they hold their form from last week and do not get tripped by the interstate line that has caused them chaos in their last 16 matches, the Suns can trouble Collingwood.

Gold Coast Suns Team News

No new injuries plagued the Suns last week in their win with Gold Coast going in unchanged.

Jacob Townsend will not be far off a return, while Zac Smith looks likely to come back over the next fortnight.
