It's a do-or-die clash for Collingwood as they take on the Sydney Swans at the Gabba on Thursday.

The Magpies have been put under the pump by the media after a terrible fortnight. They were hammered by West Coast Eagles and then lost in embarrassing fashion to the languishing Fremantle Dockers.

Sydney got back on the winner's list two weeks ago against a poor Hawthorn outfit, but were quickly brought back down to earth against a white-hot St Kilda as they lost by 53 points.

Both teams will be looking to bounce back after below-par performances last week. For Collingwood, this is a game they simply have to win or their 2020 campaign could be over already.

Collingwood Form

Collingwood started the season in brilliant form, winning two of their first three games and drawing against premiership favourites Richmond. But the loss of some important players has seen the Pies fall into a hole in recent weeks.

They beat the Cats with ease three weeks ago, but have struggled over the last fortnight, losing to both Western Australian sides in West Coast and Fremantle. Collingwood will be hoping their return to neutral ground in Queensland will allow them to find some form.

Collingwood Team News

On the selection front – the Pies look likely to bring back Ben Reid for some added height into their forward line. The likes of Josh Thomas, Chris Mayne and Jaidyn Stephenson could be on the chopping block at match committee.

Sydney Form

Nothing has really gone right for Sydney in 2020 and they sit in 17th place on the ladder. With the absence of superstars Lance Franklin, Josh Kennedy and Isaac Heeney, they have found it hard to get their hands on the ball, and even harder to score.

Sydney have won one of their last three games, with dismal defeats against Gold Coast Suns and St Kilda coming on either side of their narrow victory against Hawthorn a fortnight ago.

Sydney Team News

It’s hard to know what John Longmire will do at the selection table. Nick Blakey, Sam Gray and Lewis Taylor have been very poor in recent weeks and it wouldn’t be a shock to see them all omitted.

Collingwood vs Sydney Swans Head to Head

Collingwood vs Sydney Swans Odds

Collingwood have been installed as very heavy favourites at 1.36, whilst Sydney are the outsiders at 3.15.

The line has been set at -18.5 for Collingwood.

Collingwood vs Sydney Match Up

The battle that will decide this game will be that of Sam Reid and Darcy Moore. In this clash last year, when Moore was out of the team, Reid kicked six goals and arguably was best afield.

Moore has been sensational this season and at this point of the year, would definitely occupy one of the key defender spots in the All Australian team.

With inexperienced youngsters apart from Moore in the back 50, like Mark Keane and Jack Madgen, if Reid can get on top of the Magpies superstar, it will go a long way to deciding Sydney's fate in this game.

And similarly, with the Swans being bereft of key targets forward, if Moore can beat Reid, the Swans will find it very hard to kick a winning score.
