Fremantle Dockers vs Gold Coast Suns Prediction

Fremantle arrive off a 28 point loss to the Western Bulldogs, a physical encounter which saw the Dockers having to make plenty of changes due to injuries sustained last Sunday.

Gold Coast bounced back to winning form in Round 12 against Hawthorn and looking to take advantage of an undermanned Fremantle this week. They are tipped to take advantage.

  • Gold Coast Suns have won the last 2 games against Fremantle Dockers
  • The last four head to heads have gone under the total match points line
  • Gold Coast Suns lead the AFL in kicks per game in 2021
  • Ben King has kicked 2+ goals in each of the Gold Coast's last seven games

Head to Head

From their last 10 clashes, it is 6-4 in favour of Fremantle although the Suns have their last two games against the Dockers.

The Gold Coast Suns defeated Fremantle by 13 points in Round 4 last year, which was the last time these two sides met.

Fremantle Dockers Form

After a soft draw in the earlier part of the season, Fremantle have struggled against top 8 sides more recently.

They have been defeated by Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs in their last two matches.

While the Dockers were competitve last Sunday, it came at a cost for Fremantle who will be without Nathan Wilson with suspension and injuries see Brennan Cox, Nat Fyfe and Griffin Logue all on the sidelines.

That's three key players for their defence out along with easily their best player in Fyfe, so it will take some effort for Fremantle to get over the line on Saturday.

Gold Coast Suns Form

Although the Suns could still be at least a season away from playing finals, they do have one of the more talented young lists in the AFL.

Out of all teams in the bottom 10 on the ladder, they have comfortably conceded the least amount of points.

That stat will be pleasing coach Stewart Dew with defence a great platform for the Gold Coast to build off, however, he will need to start releasing the shackles soon in order start challenging the better sides in attack.

That was certainly the case two weeks ago before the bye as the Suns beat Hawthorn 113-76 to go 4-7 for the season.

Gold Coast Suns Team News

Matt Rowell is massive inclusion for the Suns in Round 13, with every footy fan looking forward to the return of one of the  best young midfielders.

Jack Bowes is another very handy addition, a strong utility who'll help stretch a young Dockers line up

Verdict

Against an injury depleted Fremantle who are on a six day break off a physical contest, this a character test for the Gold Coast who need to show maturity and take this chance in Perth.

Suns tall forward Ben King can cash in versus an undermanned Fremantle defence and kick his side to victory.
