Geelong Cats host Collingwood at the Gabba on Saturday in the second AFL Semi-Final. The winners will secure a spot in the AFL Preliminary Final against Brisbane Lions, while it is season over for the losers.

Geelong Cats Form

Geelong were beaten by Port Adelaide last week in their Qualifying Final in what was a disappointing display from a team that have looked so good all year.

The Cats need to bounce back after last week's display of poor footy against the Power. Patrick Dangerfield was the only player making a major contribution for the Cats, just showing how good of a player that he is.

Geelong seem to have a tendency during finals to shy away from their best, but there will be no time for that this year. If they lose Saturday's semi-final they are out.

The Cats do have a good record during the second week of finals, so when the pressure is truly on, we may be able to expect them to bounce back.

Geelong Cats Team News

Geelong make one change with Sam Simpson coming onto the interchange for Tom Atkins.

Collingwood Form

Collingwood were simply superb last week against West Coast Eagles, beating them in Perth when leading up to the match many pundits had given them no chance at all.

Collingwood went into their Elimination Final with very few expecting a Pies victory. They came out one point winners over the Eagles, so their tails are well and truly up.

Mason Cox was the hero, kicking three goals early in the game, while a late smother from Taylor Adams saved the game for the Pies.

They are not without a hope in this match if they can get a sniff early as they did last week.

Collingwood Team News

Collingwood are unchanged from last week's victory over West Coast.

The Pies team for Saturday is below:

C: C.Mayne, A.Treloar, J.Daicos
HF: W.Hoskin-Elliott, B.Mihocek, J.Thomas

Geelong Cats vs Collingwood Head To Head

Geelong hold a 3-2 record from their last five head to head matches, but Collingwood have won the last two clashes, including in July this year by 22 points.

Geelong can bounce back if they play up to the form that they showed during the home and away season.

Geelong Cats vs Collingwood Betting Odds

Geelong are the 1.60 favourites while Collingwood are the 2.35 outsiders after last week's win. The line has been set for Geelong at -6.5.

Geelong Cats vs Collingwood Match Up

The key match up for this game is Darcy Moore and Tom Hawkins.

Geelong's Hawkins could not kick straight last week, kicking five points and one out on the full.

Credit to Port Adelaide for playing defensively so that he was kicking from pockets and hard angles all night.

We can imagine that Collingwood will have a similar tactic and that is to out number him in the one on ones and for Moore to constantly bring the ball to ground.

If Moore can win this battle, it could be Collingwood's time to shine.

Geelong Cats vs Collingwood Key Stats

  • Mitch Duncan has recorded 15+ disposals in each of his last 11 matches
  • Tom Hawkins has kicked 3+ goals in each of Geelong's three matches at the Gabba this season
