GWS have been very inconsistent, winning just one of their last four matches. Geelong are tipped to win by 1-39 points.

  • Geelong Cats have won their last 5 matches
  • Geelong Cats have won 15 of their last 16 matches at GMHBA Stadium
  • Geelong Cats have won 3 of their last 4 matches by a margin of 20-39 points
  • GWS Giants have won 1 of their last 4 matches

Head to Head

The head to head record is very interesting, with the last seven matches being a 3-3 split along with a draw back in 2017.

The Giants have won their last two clashes in 2019 and 2020 by four and 32 points respectively.

Geelong Cats Form

The Cats have won their last five matches and are in a really rich vein of form with big Tom Hawkins firing down forward.

If Geelong come away with the win here, they potentially move themselves into top spot on the ladder and ensure a home final for the first week of the finals.

They are proving to be the best side in the competition at present and have comfortably beaten Essendon Bombers, Carlton, Fremantle Dockers, Richmond Tigers and North Melbourne in recent weeks.

Defenders Lachie Henderson, Tom Atkins and Mark O'Connor will have to wait another week for a return to action from injuries.

The Cats make one change with Max Holmes coming into the side with Isaac Smith managed and Quinton Narkle left out.

GWS Giants Form

GWS are in and out of form, but rarely play bad footy against the Cats. That includes winning at this stadium in 2019 by four points, albeit in a very different run form.

Another win over the Cats gives them every chance to have a crack at the final two spots inside the eight, which looks a fight between four sides.

But GWS need to improve having lost three of their last four matches. They went down to Gold Coast Suns, Sydney Swans and Port Adelaide and won against Essendon Bombers in the last month.

GWS Giants Team News

Their injury list is arguably the biggest in the league, and Jacob Hopper and Phil Davis will miss at least one round as they go through the AFL's concussion protocols.

Tom Green strained his hamstring late in the loss to Port Adelaide and is now going to miss at least two rounds.

San Reid hurt his ankle earlier in that match and was able to play on, but scans later showed that it aggravated an old injury.

Daniel Lloyd also suffered an ankle injury and needs to pass a test to take on the Cats.

Meanwhile, Jesse Hogan and Shane Mumford are managed this week.

The replacements are Jake Stein, Matt de Boer, Zach Sproule, Jake Riccardi, Kieren Briggs and Callum Brown.
