Greater Western Sydney vs Adelaide Preview & Betting Tips

The Giants are set to host the Crows in Canberra in the final Saturday game of the AFL. The Crows will be fighting to stay in the hunt for the finals against one of the form sides of the competition.

GWS Giants

GWS have had the won eight of their last nine outings and enjoyed a training run against Carlton last round. GWS recorded a 105-point win over a hapless Carlton side to continue their march into the top-four.

The midfield brigade of Josh Kelly, Stephen Coniglio, Callan Ward and Lachie Whitfield have been outstanding for the Giants. Phil Davis leads a GWS backline that has been difficult to break, only conceding 73 points per match this season.

Adelaide Crows

The Adelaide midfield of Matt Crouch, Bryce Gibbs and Rory Sloane were able to win plenty of ball last week against the Power. The Crows were able to come out on top by 3-points in a thrilling win.

The Crows need a win in Canberra to keep their finals hopes alive and face a tough assignment against one of the form teams of the competition.

The Crows have dropped off dramatically with their scoring since round 9 with their average score plummeting from 90 points to 73 points per game. It will be difficult for the Crows to mount a serious challenge if they can’t exert any scoring pressure on a tough GWS backline.

Head-to-Head

These two sides last clashed in round 11 this season at the Adelaide Oval. The Giants were able to reignite their season with a win, 14.13 (97) to 11.15 (81).

Match Up

This game will be won across the midfield and GWS boast the best outfit in the AFL. Josh Kelly, Stephen Coniglio, Callan Ward and Lachie Whitfield are all in superb touch. Whitfield has averaged 25+ disposals per match since round 10.

Forward Jeremy Cameron has been productive since his return to the GWS line-up. The Giants forward has kicked 13 goals in his last three outings for the orange army.

GWS hold a real advantage across the middle of the park and should over-run the Crows by the second half to record a comfortable win.

Verdict

Since round 11 GWS have won eight of their last nine matches and it’s difficult to imagine them stopping here. Adelaide will present a real challenge but the GWS midfield gives them a real edge across the middle of the park.

Adelaide were lucky last week getting out of jail against the Power and I can’t see lightning striking twice. There’s some value in the total goals market in what should be a tough win for the Sydney side.
