Head to Head

The Giants and Bulldogs have met in seven regular season games and one finals game since the beginning of the 2019 season.

GWS won the most recent matchup in Round 20 last year as well as the Elimination Final in 2019. Otherwise the Bulldogs dominate the head to head having won the remaining seven games.

GWS Giants Form

The Giants have lost their last two games after getting out the gates well going 5-0 to start the season. Since the win streak GWS have gone 1-4 with all losses coming by double digits.

Their Kicking rate was down in the most recent loss to Essendon which also saw their Inside 50 numbers plummet compared to their season average.

The Giants were restricted to 37% Possession in the match, a number that was reduced to 23% for the final 10 minutes of the game effectively strangling out the chase.

GWS Giants Team News

Josh Kelly and Lachie Ash both suffered calf injuries in the Giants loss to Essendon and will miss up to two months. Leek Aleer is in concussion protocols.

The Bulldogs rebounded well last weekend from their own 2 game losing streak with a dominant all-round performance against the ravaged Tigers.

They surpassed their opponents in almost all statistical measures and despite having 53% possession in the game were able to keep the Turnovers to only 61. The Dogs also took 16 Marks Inside 50 to the Tigers 3.

Laitham Vandermeer will have a fitness test closer to Saturday to determine his recovery from a shin injury which caused him to be subbed out of last week’s game.
