Hawthorn vs North Melbourne Predictions

A bottom of the table clash sees 2-6 Hawthorn host 0-8 North Melbourne in Launceston. The Hawks have had the better of North in recent seasons, and have an excellent record in Tasmania. But a 20.5 point handicap might be beyond them and the Roos are tipped to cover.

  • Hawthorn have lost 6 of their last 7 matches.
  • Hawthorn have failed to cover the line in their last 6 matches as a favourite.
  • Hawthorn have won 35 of their last 40 matches in Launceston.
  • North Melbourne have lost their last 16 matches, including 8 games this season.

Head to Head

Hawthorn hold a 6-2 head to head record over North Melbourne from the last eight meetings, but the last four have been shared.

It was one win apiece in 2019, while the Hawks won by four points in a 58-54 victory in last year's only clash.

Hawthorn Form

Hawthorn were beaten 98-60 by the West Coast Eagles at the MCG last weekend to slip to 2-6 for the season.

The Hawks are second from bottom and already facing a long season.

Their only win in the last seven games did come in Launceston when getting the better of Adelaide Crows 102-99 after a late comeback in Round 6.

Hawthorn Team News

Jaeger O’Meara is passed fit to start for the Hawks, but last week's late absentee Jack Gunston hasn't been named and is set for a month out.

Tim O'Brien also returns with Daniel Howe managed and Emerson Jeka and Josh Morris have been left out.

Shaun Burgoyne is not ready to make his return from injury, while Damon Greaves is an emergency after starring in the VFL.

North Melbourne Form

North Melbourne's losing run extended to 16 matches as their winless start to this season became eight games last weekend.

It was the smallest defeat of the season, however, as they went down 94-76 to Collingwood at Marvel Stadium.

Are there signs of improvement in the Kangaroos? They will not get a better chance to end their losing run against this misfiring Hawks side.

North Melbourne Team News

Jaidyn Stephenson fractured his wrist in the defeat against Collingwood and he will be a big loss for North.

Aiden Bonar has also been ruled out with an ankle injury.

Trent Dumont returns from a calf injury and Taylor Garner is also brought in to the Roos side.
