Hawthorn vs Richmond Tigers Predictions

Both teams come into this match with a win under the belt. Richmond have had such a good record against the Hawks in recent times, and with the pattern being a 1-39 margin this does look the bet.

  • Richmond have won 5 of their last 6 matches against Hawthorn
  • The last 6 matches between the two sides have all been decided within 1-39 points

Head to Head

Of their last six clashes, Richmond currently lead 5-1, but Hawthorn did defeat them last year by more than five goals in what was an upset victory.

Prior to that, Richmond had comfortably had their measure in five clashes, all by a margin between 1-39 points.

Hawthorn Form

Hawthorn were too tough for Essendon Bombers last week despite trailing by 40 points at one stage of the match.

They had a dominant third quarter and got the chocolates in the final minutes of the match, winning by a point.

The Hawks beat Brisbane Lions to kick off last season but their form dwindled away quite quickly after that performance and after the Covid break.

Hawthorn still have some big guns out of their side, so possibly over the coming month or two when some big names come back into the side, this will improve their performance against the top tier sides like Richmond.

Hawthorn Team News

Chad Wingard is still a week or two away from coming back into the side while Jack Gunston will have at least another month on the sidelines - two very important players to the club's structure.

As a result, the Hawks are unchanged from last week.

Richmond Tigers Form

Richmond Tigers kicked off the season with a good enough win over Carlton, which will only see them improve another game into the season.

Last year's premiership champions were not totally convincing against the Blues to kick off round one, but they did the job in what ended up being the Dustin Martin show.

Jack Graham had a monster game off the half-back while Jack Riewoldt came to the fore and kicked a bag himself.

Richmond Tigers Team News

Nick Vlastuin was the talking point from their game last week after being subbed out with a knee injury. He is ruled out of Sunday's game.

Captain Trent Cotchin returns after missing the opening round win with Jack Ross dropping down to the emergencies.

Bachar Houli remains out but could make a round three appearance.
