Melbourne Demons and Collingwood are set for a scrap fest when they meet at the Gabba on Saturday in AFL Round 12.

Melbourne have won their last two games, albeit against the two weakest sides in the competition as they defeated Adelaide Crows and North Melbourne. But any win builds confidence for a team.

Collingwood also have won their last two, beating another two strugglers in the Crows and Sydney Swans. That is similar form which is why both sides are so close in the betting market.

Melbourne Demons Form

Having won three of their last five matches, the Demons' confidence will be up. Against a Collingwood side not even close to full strength, they do have their opportunity to scrape into the eight.

Melbourne Demons Team News

The Dees' problem this week is that they may be without a true ruckman.

Luke Jackson and Max Gawn are both expected to miss the game with injuries, creating some major issues coming up against Brodie Grundy, who will simply feed on the likes of Taylor Adams.

Collingwod Form & Team News

Collingwood have been mixing their form with the last eight games featuring sequences of two losses followed by two wins. The most recent two games were wins over Sydney Swans and Adelaide Crows.

Collingwod Team News

A depleted outfit, Collingwood are currently without Jeremy Howe, Scott Pendlebury, Jordan De Goey and Adam Treloar, all players who would totally change the chances of this team.

They do have Darcy Moore, Will Hoskin-Elliot and Jamie Elliot coming back into the side which is some major reinforcement.

With these weapons back in the side, that may be enough to break down the Melbourne midfield and prove too good against the Dees.

Melbourne Demons vs Collingwood Head To Head

Collingwood have won their last four clashes against Melbourne. With some big names back into the side, the Magpies may be able to make it five wins on end.

Melbourne Demons vs Collingwood Betting Odds

Melbourne and Collingwood are both 1.90 in the market which is a little surprising after hearing the likely ins and outs for both sides, as well as reflecting on the recent history.

Melbourne Demons vs Collingwood Match Up

The key match up in this game is between Clayton Oliver and Steele Sidebottom.

Both of these men are major ball winners, with Oliver showing major improvement with his disposals this season.

Sidebottom is as clean of a player as you will see, yet since he has come back, he seems to float in and out of games.

If Oliver can have the impact we have seen of late, he may be the factor that drives the Melbourne side forward.

  • Bailey Fritsch has kicked two or more goals in six of Melbourne's last seven matches
