Head to Head

Melbourne have won five of the last seven matches against GWS Giants, who won the last meeting at the MCG in 2019 by 26 points.

The Demons won by five points in Round 17 of the 2019 season and were also victorious against the Giants in Round 3 last year by 34 points at Manuka Oval.

Since the Giants' inception in 2012, they have defeated Melbourne at the MCG twice from six attempts. Overall, Melbourne have the edge with eight wins from 14 matches.

Melbourne Demons Form

Last week ladder leaders Melbourne overcame a late scare to defeat Essendon Bombers by 11 points at the MCG.

Although they remain a win clear at the top, the Demons' last month has conveyed mixed signals of the side’s true form.

They beat fellow flag fancies Brisbane Lions and the Western Bulldogs, but lost to 15th placed Collingwood and just scraped over the line against the inexperienced Bombers.

Melbourne are a game clear on top of the AFL ladder, with 12 wins and two losses after 15 rounds of the 2021 AFL season.

A fortnight ago they drew with bottom side North Melbourne in Tasmania, after Daniel Lloyd was able to register a score in the dying seconds.

Greater Western Sydney have a 6-1-7 record heading into round 15 placing them 10th on the AFL ladder.
