Melbourne Demons vs Richmond Tigers Predictions

A huge ANZAC Day Eve clash is in store at the MCG. Melbourne Demons have been impressive, but they haven't beaten the Richmond Tigers in the last five attempts - and it all adds to the intrigue.

With both sides in good form, I'm expecting a close contest. The tribet option of either team winning by 15.5 points or less tipped.

  • Melbourne Demons are 5-0 for the first time since 1994.
  • Melbourne Demons have won their last 7 matches.
  • Richmond Tigers have won their last 5 matches against Melbourne Demons.

Head to Head

Richmond Tigers have won five in a row against Melbourne Demons, including a 79-56 victory in Round 5 last year.

The Dees last defeated the Tigers in 2016 when completing a third straight victory over Richmond.

Melbourne Demons Form

Melbourne Demons moved to a 5-0 record for the first time since 1994 when defeating Hawthorn 104-54 last weekend.

The Dees led by just four points early in the final quarter before kicking away and posting 52 points in the final term for a 50-point victory.

Melbourne have beaten Fremantle Dockers, St Kilda, GWS Giants and Geelong Cats as well as Hawthorn in the opening five weeks.

The Demons have emerged as serious finals contenders and now get the ultimate test against the reigning premiers.

Melbourne Demons Team News

Ben Brown and Sam Weideman are both ready to return to action, but the Demons have opted for only one for Saturday's ANZAC Day Eve clash.

Brown kicked three goals in the VFL last weekend but will have to wait for his Dees debut with Weideman, who kicked seven on his return from a fractured leg, named among the emergencies.

Forward Bayley Fritsch has been passed fit to return a hand injury, and defender Steven May is back after a concussion absence.

Mitch Brown, Tom Sparrow and Harrison Petty are omitted.

Nathan Jones will make his 300th AFL appearance.

Richmond Tigers Form

Richmond Tigers were big winners in Round 5 as they defeated St Kilda 134-48 at Marvel Stadium to move to 3-2 for the season.

Dustin Martin got 34 disposals and Jack Riewoldt kicked five goals in an impressive 86-point win over the Saints.

The victory put the Tigers back on an even keel at 3-2 for the season following losses to Sydney Swans and Port Adelaide in the previous two weeks.

Richmond Tigers Team News

Dustin Martin will bring up his 250th game milestone for the Tigers in what is expected to be an unchanged Richmond side.

Jack Ross, Callum Coleman-Jones, Patrick Naish, Riley Collier-Dawkins and Maurice Rioli Jnr all caught the eye in VFL but will have to wait for their chance
