North Melbourne vs Geelong Cats Predictions

Geelong come into the match off the back of four wins on the trot, and seven in a row against North Melbourne.

The Roos are simply are not in the same post code depth wise compared to the Cats and Geelong should win comfortably.

  • Geelong Cats have won their last 4 matches.
  • Geelong Cats have won their last 9 matches as favourite.
  • Geelong have won their last 7 matches against North Melbourne.
  • North Melbourne are currently at the bottom of the ladder with 4 wins all season.

Head to Head

Geelong have won the last seven head to heads, the latest being by five goals at GMHBA Stadium this year.

Geelong have improved out of sight since that match which is why they are currently the team to beat in the AFL.

North Melbourne Form

The Roos have improved of late after a very average start to the year and now have a chance of avoiding the wooden spoon.

Jaidyn Stephenson has been winning the ball and hitting the scoreboard, while forward Nick Larkey has become a powerhouse, kicking seven goals last week.

Larkey was key as North Melbourne proved too good for Carlton. They capitalised on a below par ?Blues and put the game away.

Although they are not in the same class category as Geelong, if the Cats come out snoozing, we have seen that North Melbourne do have the ability to punish them.

North Melbourne Team News

The big news this week with the Kangaroos was that Ben Cunnington has undergone surgery this week to remove a testicular tumour, with no return date announced.

Jack Mahony, Eddie Ford and the big name Robbie Tarrant will all return to the side.

Cunnington, Cam Zurhaar, Shaun Atley and Tarryn Thomas are all missing this week.

Geelong Cats Form

Although there are four or five premiership hopes this season, both Geelong and the Western Bulldogs look the two standout sides based on recent performance and depth after injury.

The Cats come into this match expecting to win after taking out their last four matches, but will not want to come out as slow as they did earlier in the year and North Melbourne did take advantage of that.

With Tom Hawkins up and firing at the moment, Geelong are incredibly hard to stop as he is their go to man and has the ability to kick four or five goals a match.

Geelong Cats Team News

Skipper Joel Selwood will be monitored off a short break after he was subbed out last week in the club's win against Richmond, but has been named to play in the squad.

Gryan Miers has suffered another fracture to the right fibula that saw him miss six weeks earlier this year. While he won't require surgery, the small forward will be touch-and-go to play again this season.

Shaun Higgins will return for his 250th match after he was a late withdrawal with knee soreness last week.
