Port Adelaide can keep their slim finals hopes alive with a win over the Sydney Swans on Saturday. 

The Power rolled Melbourne by 25 points in Round 14 and sit two games outside the eight in 10th position with a win-loss record of 6-7. 

Their opponents for this match, Sydney, are in 13th spot with a win-loss record of 5-8. They had the bye in Round 14 and were dominant 44-point winners over Richmond prior to that. 

The Power have a solid recent record agaisnt Sydney, particularly at the Adelaide Oval. Expect to see Mitch Georgiades and Willie Rioli amongst the goals, while Zak Butters and Connor Rozee can fire in the middle. Isaac Heeney will provide some resistance for Sydney

The two sides have already met once this season with Port Adelaide getting the upper hand over Sydney by eight points at the SCG in Round 6. Zak Butters and Connor Rozee had 27 disposals each in that match, while Mitch Georgiades and Willie Rioli booted three goals apiece. 

The Power have won their past five against Sydney at the Adelaide Oval, including a 112-point victoty at the venue in Round 21 last season. Zak Butters has averaged 26 disposals in his past four matches against the Swans. Isaac Heeney has kicked six goals from his past four for Sydney. 

Port Adelaide Power Form Analysis


Port Adelaide have won two matches in a row and were 16 point winners over GWS prior to their victory over Melbourne. They were shaky in May, losing four matches with three of those by 49 points or more. 

Mitch Georgiades was the standout against Melbourne with seven goals and has kicked 2+ in nine of his past 12 matches. 

Zak Butters had 32 disposals against the Demons, while Connor Rozee had 28. Rozee has had 25+ in his past eight matches.

Allir Allir and Jason Horne-Francis pulled up with respective issues out of the Melbourne match and will be assessed at training. Jeremy Finlayson and Christian Moraes were solid in the SANFL after being dropped and are in the mix for a return. 

Sydney Swans Form Analysis


Sydney have had a mixed time of it over the last month. Prior to their win over Richmond they were smashed to the tune of 90 points by Adelaide at the SCG, while they were on the receiving end of a 53 point loss to Melbourne prior to that. 

The Swans have averaged 68-points per game in their past five matches, continuing a season trend where they have relied on midfielders to sneak forward and kick goals. James Jordon kicked three against Richmond. Isaac Heeney has kicked seven goals from his past four. 

Nick Blakey had 34 disposals against Richmond, well above his season average of 20. Callum Mills had 25 in his second match back from injury. 

Sydney Swans Team News


The outlook on the injury front is beginning to look alot more positive for Sydney with Tom Papley and Errol Gulden both nearing a return. Joel Amartey will be back from suspension, while Matt Roberts missed the Tigers match with illness and will come back in. Robbie Fox is in the mix to return.
