St Kilda Saints vs Gold Coast Suns Preview

The Gold Coast Suns have a poor recent record against St Kilda, but can end that against the Saints. The Suns have lost nine of the past 10 against the Saints but are the real deal in 2025 with seven wins from nine matches.

  • Gold Coast have a win-loss record of 7-2, St Kilda are 4-6
  • The Suns rank on top for inside 50s this season and are 2nd for scoring
  • Ben Long is averaging over 2 goals per game in 2025
  • Jack Sinclair had 38 disposals in Round 10

Head to Head

St Kilda have won nine of the past 10 matches between the two sides. The Saints have won the past five at Marvel Stadium, including a three-point thriller in a low scoring match at the venue in Round 13 last season.

Jack Sinclair had 31 disposals in that match, while Sam Flanders had 42 for the Suns. Sinclair has averaged 28 disposals in his past four against Gold Coast. Noah Anderson has averaged 29 for the Suns. Jack Higgins has kicked 12 goals from his past three matches against Gold Coast.

St Kilda Saints Form

The wheels have fallen off at St Kilda in the last six weeks, losing five of those. They were dominant in a bit of a Ross Lyon masterclass against Fremantle three weeks ago but losses to Carlton and West Coast have put a dent in their finals aspirations. Four of the five losses have been against finalists from last season.

They won the disposal count against West Coast. Jack Sinclair had 38 disposals, while Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Jack Macrae racked up another 27. That trio average between 27 and 28 disposals in 2025.

Jack Higgins booted five goals against the Eagles, taking his tally to 28 from 10 matches.

St Kilda Saints Team News

Jack Macrae is set to miss for St Kilda. Zak Jones and Hugh Boxshall will be considered for a recall after big games in the VFL last weekend. Dan Butler is a chance to return from injury.

Gold Coast Suns Form

Gold Coast’s excellent start to the season has been built on some solid work in the middle. They top the competition for hitouts and are 5th for clearances, leading to their top ranking for inside 50s and 2nd for scoring.

The Suns are going at just under 104 points per game. Ben King has booted 29 goals from nine matches, while Ben Long has kicked 19 from eight. He snagged four majors in the win over Hawthorn.

In that match, John Noble had 36 disposals across half-back, while Noah Anderson (35) and Matt Rowell (29) found plenty of it in the middle. Anderson, Rowell and Touk Miller are averaging 25+ in 2025.

The Suns have ventured to Marvel Stadium once this season for a shock loss to Richmond. Their only other loss came against Brisbane at the GABBA. The Suns have lost four of their past five at Marvel. Their only win was a one-point margin against Essendon late last season.

Gold Coast Suns Team News

No injuries for the Suns out of the Hawthorn match. They are unlikely to make too many changes to the side. Their young gun, Leo Lombard, returned from injury via the VFL last week and will be considered.
