St Kilda vs Carlton Predictions

St Kilda enter the match on a two-game losing streak after going down to West Coast last week, while Carlton were also beaten at the hands of North Melbourne by a big margin last week.

Both have questions to answer as they chase one of the remaining finals spots. St Kilda are tipped to secure the win and continue their dominance of the Blues.

  • St Kilda have lost their last 2 matches.
  • St Kilda are 1 win outside of the final eight
  • St Kilda have won 6 of their last 7 matches against Carlton
  • St Kilda have won their last 5 matches against Carlton at Marvel Stadium
  • Carlton are 2 wins outside of the top eight

Head to Head

St Kilda hold the head to head record 7-1 from the last eight matches with the one loss coming at the MCG in 2019.

Saints have won their last five matches against the Blues at Marvel Stadium.

St Kilda Form

Saints had won three matches in a row across Rounds 16-18, including a win over one of the flag favourites Brisbane Lions.

But they just fell short against both Port Adelaide and West Coast Eagles in the last two weeks, although that is nothing to be ashamed of.

They are beginning to look like the smokies this season. If they can win this, St Kilda could find themselves within the top eight and are showing that they can be competitive against the best.

With big Max King firing down forward, Carlton are going to have to pull out a big performance to stop him and the St Kilda team.

St Kilda Team News

Jack Higgins returns from a back complaint that has ruled him out for the past three matches, an important in for the Saints.

Hunter Clark is also back from the broken jaw he sustained seven weeks ago.

Tom Highmore is included after training in a glove after hand surgery a week ago, and Rowan Marshall comes back in a fourth change.

Jack Sinclair is ruled out with injury and Paul Hunter, Oscar Clavarino, Nick Coffield and Cooper Sharman are left out.

Carlton Form

Carlton have been weaving in and out of form and have become frustrating as they are more than handy when firing.

Sam Walsh has been the name for them this year, dominant around contested ball yet still hitting the scoreboard and influencing the match, exactly what a number one draft pick should do.

With Harry McKay unlikely to play this week, that really hurts the chances of them as they are now lacking that powerhouse forward that can win them the match.

The absence of McKay last week showed last week against North Melbourne as Carlton lost to the bottom side by 39 points.

Carlton Team News

Levi Casboult and Will Setterfield are likely to be sidelined for another week or two, but Harry McKay is named to play with a toe injury.

Charlie Curnow is also back in a big inclusion for the Blues as he links up with McKay for the first time since mid-2019.

Lochie O’Brien and Josh Honey also come into the side.

Eddie Betts and Zac Williams are ruled out with ankle and hamstring injuries and Marc Murphy is again in the emergencies. Sam Petrevski-Seton and David Cottrell are omitted.
