St Kilda vs Carlton Preview

Carlton went down by 60 against the Adelaide Crows last week and are bidding to save their season at 3-5 for the year. The Saints aren't much better at 4-4 Saints but are the value after taking out the Dockers by 61 points last week.

  • St Kilda have won three of the past four matches between the two sides
  • The Saints have the superior win-loss record in 2025
  • Sam Walsh has averaged 34 disposals in his past three matches against St Kilda
  • Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera is averaging 28 disposals this season

Head to Head

St Kilda have won three of the past four matches between the two sides, including a two-point thriller in Round 24 that featured a late Jack Higgins goal.

The two sides rarely play each other at the MCG. Carlton took out the most recent encounter back in 2019.

St Kilda Form

St Kilda’s big win over Fremantle snapped a three-match losing streak. The Saints destroyed the Dockers in a number of key measures, including clearances, contested possessions and inside 50s.

Jack Macrae ran riot with 38 disposals, while Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera had 28. Those two are averaging 28 disposals this season.

Cooper Sharman was a star last weekend with four goals, while Mitch Owens kicked three. Owens has booted 14 from his seven matches, while Jack Higgins has 21 from eight.

St Kilda Team News

Mattaes Phillipou was a late withdrawal last weekend and will be assessed at training. Tobie Travaglia came in for Phillipou but was unused as the sub. Mason Wood is expected to be available after serving out concussion protocols.

Carlton Form

Carlton opened up the season with four straight losses. They rebounded with big wins against easier opposition in West Coast and North Melbourne before edging out Geelong by 18 points in Round 7. They could not take that form on the road in their loss to Adelaide.

The Blues could not get their hands on the footy enough in the Crows match, leading to an inside 50 count of 36-58. They are normally strong in this area, ranking 3rd in the competition for inside 50s, coming on the back off a strong clearance game.

George Hewett had 25 disposals last week and is averaging 29.5 this season. Charlie Curnow booted two goals from limited opportunities and has kicked 11 from his past four.

Carlton Team News

Carlton have no injuries out of the Adelaide match but are expected to make changes after the disappointing display. Sam Docherty and Jesse Motlop are some big names with questionable form. Jack Silvagni is expected to come back into the side.

Verdict

St Kilda are the value in the head to head betting. Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Sam Walsh to find plenty of footy.
