St Kilda hosts the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba on Saturday, in the first Elimination Final of the 2020 AFL Finals series.

Both teams have been able to beat the best in the competition this year, but can they do it on the finals stage?

St Kilda Form

St Kilda need to take inspiration from the Dogs' performance when winning the flag in 2016. But they must get past Western Bulldogs first.

The key to the Saints' chances in this match is that they finished off the season with a win over GWS Giants, a massive win at that, to fill the side with confidence.

Their form was very patchy prior though. They were strong before their defeat to Geelong, but won just three matches since from seven games and only two of their last five matches.

St Kllda are an up and coming young side, and with a lot of their list never seeing a final, this is an opportunity they will want to grasp.

Western Bulldogs Form

The Dogs have been in a familiar boat before, winning four consecutive matches to claim the flag in 2016 when only just making the eight.

The Dogs will just want to be thinking about that 2016 season when they came from the same position to claim the premiership.

Their young side looks a 'finals side', players who relish the pressure and will perform on the big stage.

Marcus Bontempelli and Bailey Smith are the two that strike the mind, fierce competitors and two of the best players in the competition.

If the Bulldogs can get an early jump on St Kilda, they will be a side that is hard to stop.

St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs Head To Head

The head to head stats read in favour of the Saints, and even more so recently as they have won their last two clashes against the Dogs. That includes one clash this year where they won by 39 points.

St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs Betting Odds

St Kilda are the $2.05 outsiders while the Dogs are 1.77 favourites to win their way into the next round. The line has been set for the Dogs at -3.5.

St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs Match Up

The key match up of this game could be between Jack Steele and Marcus Bontempelli.

Steele has had a breakout season where we are expecting to see him finish inside the top five of the Brownlow Medal count.

Bontempelli has had some massive matches, but probably has not had the influence we have seen before, which is a good thing for the Dogs' depth.

Whichever player can win the ball around the ground and have their disposal efficiency up, as well as hit the scoreboard themselves, can lead their side into a semi final.
