Sydney Swans vs GWS Giants Predictions

As the two city rivals set to face off in the Battle of the Bridge, the Swans are one of only three undefeated side in the competition with four wins from four matches.

GWS were horrible to start off their season to say it lightly, throwing away matches they should have won. They found their hunger last week against the Pies, but should be no match for this rampant Swans side.

  • Sydney Swans are undefeated this season with a 4-0 record
  • Sydney Swans won their last match against GWS Giants by a 40+ points margin
  • Sydney Swans hold a 12-7 head to head advantage over GWS Giants

Head to Head

The Giants have won three of their last five clashes against the Swans, but the last meeting went the way of the Swans by 40+ points.

Overall, the Swans hold a 12-7 head to head advantage in Sydney derbies.

Sydney Swans Form

Unbeaten in the opening four rounds of the new season, the Swans suffered a little scare last week against Essendon.

But with Buddy Franklin in the side, class prevails. That was the case as he dragged to the Swans to an 83-80 victory at the SCG.

Franklin was their big target down forward and looked very fit as if he is ready to play out the majority of this season following 12 months of injury struggles.

Having beaten Brisbane Lions and Adelaide Crows comprehensively, the Swans showed in the last two weeks that they can win tight matches against premiers Richmond Tigers and Essendon.

Sydney Swans Team News

Isaac Heeney will miss just under a month of footy with his broke hand, while Dane Rampe has not recovered from his broken finger suffered a fortnight ago.

James Rowbottom is still not fit enough to make his way back into the Sydney side.

GWS Giants Form

The Giants started off the season miserably when defeated at the hands of St Kilda, Fremantle Dockers and Melbourne Demons in the opening three games.

They went into last week with a point to prove and did that against Collingwood, who were a little flat from the previous week's one point loss.

GWS got a much-needed win with a 90-60 victory over the Pies at the MCG.

If they can keep their mojo, they can challenge the Swans. But the key will be how they can handle the youthful Swans, who have been dominating the first four rounds.

GWS Giants Team News

Callan Ward will play despite an elbow knock last week, while Sam Reid will be available after serving his suspension.

Lachie Whitfield, Stephen Coniglio, Matt de Boer, Phil Davis and Harry Perryman are all still missing.
