West Coast Eagles vs Collingwood Predictions

West Coast and Collingwood face off in what is a repeat of last year's elimination final. The Pies came away one point winners at Optus Stadium, but can they repeat the trick?

Collingwood come into the match after a dismal loss to GWS Giants. West Coast also put up an average effort against St Kilda in Melbourne, but are tipped to win back at their home deck in Perth.

  • West Coast Eagles have won 10 of their last 11 matches at Optus Stadium.
  • Collingwood have lost 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Four of the last 5 games between West Coast Eagles and Collingwood have been decided by 1-39 points.

Head to Head

West Coast hold the recent record 5-2 from the last seven matches, although two of the last three clashes have gone the way of the Pies

The most recent was Collingwood's Elimination Final victory last year by one point. The Pies did go down 111-45 to the Eagles earlier in 2020 in the home and away season.

West Coast Eagles Form

West Coast currently sit at 2-2, having lost both away matches this season and won both of their home games.

The Eagles were disappointing last week against St Kilda in Melbourne, coughing up a 28-point half-time lead to lose 102-82. West Coast failed to kick a goal in the last quarter.

They did win well against Port Adelaide at home two games back and that gives us confidence in tipping them against the Pies, who looked down and out last week.

West Coast Eagles Team News

Shannon Hurn, Liam Ryan and Jack Petruccelle have all been ruled out for the Eagles, who hand a debut to Alex Witherdean.

Zac Langdon, Nathan Vardy and Xavier O’Neill also come in.

Hurn is unlikely to return until Round 7, while Elliot Yeo will begin his prep to return to the side in coming weeks.

Luke Shuey is still some time away from coming back and will not be seen until the second half of the season.

Collingwood Form

Collingwood let the Brisbane match slip away two games ago when a goal was kicked after the siren.

They had lead for the large majority of the match, and the disappointment was followed by a no show against an average GWS Giants side last week.

The Magpies went down 90-60 at home, but one thing about the Pies is that they bounce back as they prepare for a first interstate trip of the season.

Collingwood Team News

Jordan De Goey and Steele Sidebottom have been cleared to face West Coast on Friday.

But Will Hoskin-Elliot was left out of the side as a precaution and Mason Cox has been dropped to the reserves. Darcy Cameron comes in to support Brodie Grundy in the ruck.

Taylor Adams will not be seen until the second half of the season along with Jamie Elliot.
