Chicago came into this series in New York on a good run of form over the previous couple of weeks.

The White Sox hit a rich vein of form in mid-May as they twice went 2-1 against Cleveland either side of a series sweep of Kansas City.

Their form dipped in Detroit as they lost three of the four meetings, and they then lost twice in a three-game series with the Los Angeles.

However, it was a return meeting with Detroit, this time at home, that kick-started Chicago’s form once again.

The White Sox avenged that rough run of road games in Detroit by sweeping the Tigers at home, winning 3-0, 2-1 and 6-2.

New York Yankees Form

New York entered this series on a good run of form that saw them win 6-2 in their previous eight games.

The Yankees enjoyed a four-game win streak in late May, but that came to a halt with back-to-back defeats at home to Baltimore, which was followed by a loss to San Diego.

They managed to kick-start their form against the Padres however, winning the final two games of that series 3-2 and 10-7.

New York then went out on the road to win two of their three meetings with Seattle, winning 10-4 and 10-2 before losing 1-0.

The Yankees then went 2-1 against the Angels in Los Angeles, bouncing back from an 8-4 defeat with 6-3 and 4-1 wins.
