Los Angeles enter the final game of this series with San Diego having lost six of their previous 10 outings.

The Dodgers ended May with a couple of wins over the New York Yankees, winning 8-5 and 18-2 at home, but missed out on the series sweep as they lost the final meeting 7-3.

They then began a four-game series with the Mets with a 4-3 loss, but rallied to take two of the next three, sandwiching a 6-1 defeat to the Mets with a couple of 6-5 victories.

Los Angeles failed to build on that in St Louis as they dropped the first two meetings with the Cardinals, 5-1 and 2-1, although they did avoid being swept as they took the final game 7-3.

The Dodgers backed that up with an 8-7 victory in the series opener in San Diego, but failed to make it three-in-a-row as they were blown out last night, losing 11-1 to the Padres.

San Diego go into the last meeting of this series with the Los Angeles Dodgers having won six of their last 10 games.

The Padres made a strong start to June as the reeled off three consecutive wins, beating Pittsburgh 6-4 before downing the Giants in San Francisco, 1-0 and 3-2.

Their form cooled off after that though as they lost the final two meetings with the Giants, 6-5 and 3-2, and they then failed to build on a 2-0 victory in Milwaukee as they lost 4-3 to the Brewers.

San Diego rebounded to win the series finale 1-0, but again failed to back up a victory as they were beaten 8-7 in the series opener with the Dodgers.

The Padres issued an emphatic response though, as they dominated Los Angeles in an 11-1 victory last night.
