Milwaukee entered this series in Chicago having won eight of their previous 14 games this month.

The Brewers opened June with a 5-2 win in Philadelphia, before sandwiching a 4-2 loss in Cincinnati with 3-2 and 9-1 victories over the Reds.

Their form cooled off when they returned home however, as they lost two of their three games against San Diego, falling 2-0 and 1-0 either side of a 4-3 win.

Milwaukee lost two of their next home series too, as they sandwiched a 4-1 win over Atlanta with 7-1 and 6-2 defeats to the Braves.

The Brewers fared better against St Louis, as they beat the Cardinals 6-0 and 3-2 and then bounced back from an 8-5 loss with a 3-2 win, but they lost the opener in Chicago, 5-3.

Chicago came into this series having underwhelmed for much of June, but on the back of a solid showing against Pittsburgh.

They started the month with a 7-3 victory at home to Cincinnati, and then won two of their three games in Washington as they sandwiched a 2-0 loss with 8-3 and 7-1 victories.

They then moved on to Detroit where they lost two of the three games against the Tigers, falling 4-0 and 3-1 either side of a 6-1 win.

Chicago experienced the same sequence in Philadelphia too, as they ended that road trip by sandwiching an 8-4 victory over the Phillies with 4-3 and 7-2 losses.

The Cubs rebounded at home to Pittsburgh, winning 3-2 and then answering a 2-1 loss with 2-1 and 3-2 victories, before making it three-in-a-row on Monday by beating Milwaukee 5-3.

Chicago drew first blood in this series with Milwaukee and we expect them to back that up.

The Cubs have found some momentum in recent days and Jameson Taillon is likely to enjoy plenty of success against a struggling Brewers offense.
