They backed that up with a 5-2 victory in Colorado, but then went on to lose the next two meetings with the Rockies.

A return home briefly brought a turnaround in fortunes as they swept Philadelphia over three games, 2-0, 4-1 and 4-2.

Their joy was short-lived though as they were then swept at home by Toronto, losing 3-0, 2-1 and 6-4.

Atlanta Braves Form

Atlanta were in mixed form heading into this series with New York, having gone 6-7 in their last 13 games.

The Braves started this sequence with back-to-back home defeats to the Los Angeles Angels, which was followed by a 4-3 win in the final meeting.

They then split a four-game series with Philadelphia, sandwiching 6-4 and 2-1 defeats with 8-5 and 11-4 wins.

Atlanta then went 1-2 in Oakland as they lost 7-2 and 2-1, before avoiding a sweep with a 4-2 victory.

The Braves then lost 3-2 in the series opener in Arizona, only to rebound with 5-2 and 8-5 victories over the Diamondbacks.
