The Yankees’ rough run began as they lost six consecutive games, before finally stopping the rot with a 7-3 win at home to the Los Angeles Angels.

They then bounced back from a 5-3 defeat to Baltimore with 9-0 and 4-2 victories over the Orioles, only to drop back-to-back games in Cincinnati, 6-1 and 5-4.

New York avoided being swept as they won the series finale 7-1, and they then sandwiched a 7-0 defeat at home to the Athletics with 3-0 and 12-5 wins.

The Yankees are yet to win in this series in Toronto, having lost the first three meetings with the Blue Jays, 5-4, 12-5 and 11-9.

Toronto go into the final game of this series having won seven of their last nine games and with the opportunity to sweep New York.

The Blue Jays lost six times in nine games earlier this month, but rallied on the road with a couple of solid series on their travels.

They travelled to Cleveland where they sandwiched a 5-4 defeat to the Guardians with 10-6 and 6-0 victories.

Toronto then moved on to Boston were they beat the Red Sox 9-0 and 5-3 either side of a 15-1 blowout loss.

The Blue Jays have built on that solid road trip with three straight home wins over New York, beating the Yankees 5-4, 12-5 and 11-9.
