Seattle travelled to Houston having enjoyed some good form on this road trip, winning five of their previous six games.

The Mariners went out on the road on the back of a rough sequence at home that saw them lose five times in six games.

They got off to a strong start on this trip though, as they swept the Padres in a three-game series in San Diego.

Seattle reeled off 5-1, 4-1 and 6-1 victories, before making the long trip to Chicago for a three-game showdown with the White Sox.

The Mariners took the series opener 5-1, and then rebounded from a 1-0 defeat with a 6-5 success in the series finale.

They failed to back that up in the series opener in Houston however, as they were beaten 9-2 on Thursday.

Houston returned home after a mixed road trip that saw them go 3-4 across their seven games played away from Minute Maid Park.

The Astros went into that trip on the back of a successful stint at home that saw them win five times in seven games.

They made a losing start in Texas though, falling 1-0, and then failed to build on a 6-3 victory over the Rangers as they lost the next meeting 5-1.

Houston settled for a split of that series as they won the finale 4-3, and they were able to back that up with a 4-3 victory at Tampa Bay.

The Astros suffered 3-2 and 8-4 defeats at the hands of the Rays in the final two meetings, but rallied on Thursday night as they won the series opener against Seattle, 9-2.

SEA Mariners @ HOU Astros

Houston took the first meeting and we are backing them to follow that up with another win here.

They should get plenty of opportunities to put up runs against Emerson Hancock, who takes an ERA of almost seven into this matchup.
