The Mariners entered this trip on the back of a rough run that had seen them lose seven of their previous nine games.

That sequence started with 7-4, 7-5 and 6-3 defeats in Tampa Bay, which was followed up by an 8-5 defeat at home to the Los Angeles Angels.

Seattle won the next two meetings, 8-0 and 3-2, only to then get swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers, losing 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1.

The Mariners have turned it around since going out on the road though, sweeping Oakland with 5-0, 7-2 and 6-3 wins.

Texas Rangers Form

Texas come into this series looking to build on a couple of wins over Boston that snapped a four-game skid.

The Rangers made a rough start to September as they lost six of their first seven games of the month.

They snapped out of that slump against Oakland as they won back-to-back games at home, 3-2 and 9-4, before heading out on the road to sweep Toronto with 10-4, 6-3, 10-0 and 9-2 wins.

Texas’ six-game streak came to a shuddering halt in Cleveland though, as they suffered 12-3, 2-1 and 9-2 defeats.

The Rangers then lost 4-2 at home to Boston, but were able to steady the ship as they won the next two meetings with the Red Sox, 6-4 and 15-5.
