Toronto went into Tuesday night’s game in Houston having lost three of their first five games of the season.

The Blue Jays have opened the season on the road and got off to the perfect start when they won 8-2 at Tampa Bay.

They failed to follow up that victory though, losing the next two games of the series with the Rays, 8-2 and 5-1.

Toronto rebounded in the final meeting with Tampa Bay, winning 9-2 to split the series before heading to Houston.

The Blue Jays failed to build on that victory though, as they failed to score a single run in a 10-0 blowout defeat to the Astros.

Houston entered Tuesday’s meeting with Toronto having finally got off the mark after four straight defeats.

The Astros opened the 2024 regular season at home, but failed to make that count in a four-game series with the New York Yankees.

They dropped the season opener, 5-4, and then managed one solitary run in a 7-1 defeat to the Yankees.

Houston lost the next meeting 5-3, and then failed to avoid being swept by New York as they lost the fourth and final game, 4-3.

The Astros finally registered their first win of the season on Monday though, as they cruised to a 10-0 win over Toronto.
