Olympiakos vs Fenerbahce Predictions

Fenerbahce were solid in their first half against Panathinaikos, which can’t be said for Olympiakos in their semi-final. I see value in backing the Turkish side to win the 3rd place.

  • Fenerbahce have won 5 of their last 6 matches.
  • Olympiakos allowed 56 points in the first half in the semifinal.

Head to Head

Olympiakos have a 17-15 advantage against Fenerbahce in 32 matches.

The most recent head to head match was won by Olympiakos 84-81 in April.

Olympiakos Form

Olympiakos had a disastrous first half in the semi-finals against Real Madrid, allowing 56 points to the opposition and eventually lost the match 87-76. Alec Peters had a great match with 23 points, ten rebounds and one assist.

The Greek giants were tagged underdogs in the quarterfinals clash against Barcelona, were down 2-1 in the series but then won two games in a row to punch their Final Four ticket.

The Red and Whites won the deciding match in Spain mainly due to great defending, allowing just 59 points to Blaugrana while scoring 63. Shaquielle McKissic topped the charts with 12 points, while Nikola Milutinov was the man of the match with 10 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.

Olympiakos Team News

There are no injured or suspended players for Olympiakos ahead of this match.

Fenerbahce Form

Fenerbahce scored only 21 points in the second half against Panathinaikos, which was the key factor in their loss 73-57. Nigel Hayes was the top scorer, ending the contest with 14 points, four rebounds and two assists.
The Turkish side were also involved in a dramatic five-game series in the Euroleague quarterfinals. They were victorious against last year Final Four participants Monaco 3-2.

The deciding match was won in France, beating Monaco 80-79 in overtime mostly thanks to Nick Calathes and his two three-pointers in the last two minutes of play, ending the game with 14 points. Scottie Wilbekin added the same number of points to his name, while Tarik Biberovic was at 13.

Between the Euroleague playoffs and the Final Four Tournament, the Yellow Canaries advanced to the Turkish Super Lig semi-finals by defeating Petkim Spor in two games.

Fenerbahce Team News

Yigit Mestoglou is injured.

Verdict

The main reason why I’m siding with Fenerbahce here is Olympiakos’ awful defending against Real Madrid. I wouldn’t be surprised if the winner gets decided by one point difference.
