Olympiakos vs Monaco Preview

Olympiakos' form has dipped in the last two weeks, but they remain in a strong position to retain the Euroleague top spot. Monaco have struggled with inconsistency throughout the season, so I am backing the hosts to cover the handicap in Greece.

Olympiakos Form

Despite a recent rough patch, Olympiakos still lead the Euroleague standings with a 22-9 record.

They suffered a shocking home defeat to an injury-hit Crvena Zvezda side last week, losing 81-73, but bounced back with a dominant 95-64 win over Panionios in the Greek Basket League last weekend.

However, the Red and Whites fell to another Euroleague loss on Tuesday, suffering an 81-70 defeat in France against Lyon ASVEL. Evan Fournier and Sasha Vezenkov each scored 25 points in that game.

Monaco Form

Monaco are also performing well in the Euroleague, sitting 4th with a 19-12 record after winning three of their last four games.

Following a narrow 91-88 defeat to underdogs Maccabi Tel Aviv, the French side responded with a 91-82 home victory over Fenerbahce, led by a standout performance from Mike James.

They were on the brink of losing to Zalgiris Kaunas on Tuesday, trailing by 15 points before forcing overtime and securing a 96-86 win, with James once again leading the way with 22 points.

Verdict

Olympiacos v Monaco

Olympiakos won the reverse fixture in December by nine points. With back-to-back Euroleague defeats, they are desperate for a response, and I am backing them to get back on track on Thursday and maintain their place at the top.
