The 2023 FIBA World Cup will take place between August 25 and September 10, with basketball’s best nations from around the globe descending on the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan for the tournament.

2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Format

The FIBA Basketball World Cup begins with a round-robin group stage consisting of eight groups of four teams. Each team will play the other team in their group once, with the top two teams at the end of three rounds of games advancing to the next group stage.

Teams will then be split into four groups of four teams, but this time teams will play two games. They will not play the team that was in the same group as them in the first round. Once again the top two teams in each group will advance, and this will be to the knockout stage.

From here it is a single elimination format for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final itself.
