Germany are backed to cover as an underdog in the semi-finals.

The USA are expected to win, but they have been guilty of making slow starts and have been hit-or-miss against the spread.

Germany, on the other hand, have the talent to run them close and have consistently covered.

The United States come into this semi-final game having won five of their six FIBA World Cup game so far.

The USA overcame a slow start to beat New Zealand 99-72 in their tournament opener, but their next two first round games were much more convincing.

They booked their place in the second round group stage with a 109-81 win over Greece and a 110-62 blowout of Jordan.

The United States then beat Montenegro 85-73 in their second-round opener, but saw their streak end with a surprise 110-104 defeat to Lithuania in their final group game.

The USA responded emphatically though, dominating Italy in a 100-63 quarter-final victory.

Germany Form

Germany boast a perfect 6-0 record at the FIBA World Cup heading into this semi-final matchup.

The Germans began the tournament with an 81-63 blowout of Japan, and backed it up with an 85-82 upset of Australia.

They completed the first-round group stage with a 101-75 win against Finland, before recording two dominant wins in the second-round group stage.

Germany crushed Georgia in a 100-73 victory, and then followed that up with a 100-71 demolition of Slovenia and NBA star Luka Doncic.

Their streak then hit six-in-a-row in the quarter-finals as they battled past Latvia in an 81-79 victory.

Verdict

USA v Germany

The USA are the better team and are fully expected to advance to the final.

However, they have not been a reliable spread best and Germany have the talent to push them, so give us the Germans and the points.
