Florida vs UConn Predictions & Tips

Florida are tipped to take down the defending champions to progress in March Madness.

The Gators can match UConn’s presence in the paint, but more importantly their ability to turn defensive stops into points with the way they run the court is something the Huskies cannot match.

Florida enter this second-round matchup on a good run of form, having won each of their previous seven games.

The Gators’ last defeat came back on February 25, when they were beaten 79-65 on the road at Louisiana State.

They responded by winning their final three games of the regular season, and kept that run going in the SEC tournament.

Florida advance to the final by beating Missouri 95-81 and Alabama 104-82, before claiming the conference crown with an 86-77 victory over Tennessee.

The Gators then made it seven-in-a-row in the first round of the national tournament, beating Norfolk State 95-69.

UConn Form

UConn go into this game having bounced back from a conference tournament defeat with their sixth win in seven games.

The Huskies, who went all the way in the national tournament a year ago, ended the regular season in strong form thanks to four consecutive wins.

They then made it five-in-a-row in the quarter-finals of the Big East competition, beating Villanova 73-56.

UConn’s quest to claim the conference crown ended in the semi-finals though, as they were beaten 71-62 by Creighton.

There was no such disappointment in the first round of March Madness though, as the Huskies took down Oklahoma, 67-59.

Florida have enough to contend with UConn’s strengths and have the ability to quickly turn defensive stops into points.

They have also been a reliable spread bet as a single digit favorite too, so we are leaning towards the Gators in this second-round clash.
