Houston go into the national tournament riding a 13-game win streak and as one of the favorites to lift the trophy next month.

The Cougars have not tasted defeat since February 1, when they suffered an 82-81 overtime defeat at the hands of Texas Tech.

They hit back immediately though, and closed out the regular season by winning 10 straight games, knocking off three ranked teams and avenging that loss to the Red Raiders along the way.

Houston then marched into the final of the Big 12 tournament by beating Colorado 77-68 and BYU 74-54.

The Cougars then claimed the conference crown as they downed Arizona 72-64 in the final.

SIU Edwardsville Form

SIU Edwardsville enter the national tournament having won eight of their previous 11 games.

The Cougars began February with a three-game winning run, and then rebounded from a 76-71 defeat to Tennessee-Martin with back-to-back wins.

They beat Tennessee State 84-72 and Morehead State 80-62, only to then lose back-to-back games as they fell 82-68 to Southern Indiana and 83-68 to Southeast Missouri State.

SIU Edwardsville rebounded in their regular season finale though, beating Little Rock 73-65.

The Cougars then claimed the OVC tournament crown as they beat Tennessee State 71-69 and Southeast Missouri State 69-48.

Houston are rightly a leading contender to go all the way and we are not expecting an early hiccup.

We are backing the Cougars to power past SIU Edwardsville, covering the spread as they win the game.
