Howard finished the regular season with a 19-12 record and went on to win Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship.

The Bison faltered late in the regular season with back-to-back road defeats at the hands of Morgan State (89-76) and North Carolina Central (68-60).

They rebounded over their final two games though, beating South Carolina State 82-78 and Norfolk State 87-67 to go into the conference tournament on a high.

Howard kept their win streak going as they charged to the final, beating SC State 91-55 and Maryland-Eastern Shore 74-55.

The Bison then clinched the MEAC crown with a narrow 65-64 victory over Norfolk State.

Kansas went 25-6 in the regular season, but lost to Texas in the conference championship game to settle for #3 in the March Madness seedings.

The Jayhawks reeled off seven consecutive wins in the latter stages of the regular season, downing #9 Baylor 87-71 and #24 TCU 63-58 along the way.

However that run was brought to a shuddering halt in their regular season outing, as they fell to a 75-59 defeat to #9 Texas.

Kansas rebounded in the first two rounds of the Big 12 Conference tournament, beating West Virginia 78-61 and Iowa State 71-58.

The Jayhawks failed to claim the conference crown though, again losing to Texas, this time 76-56.

Kansas are the better team and are backed to ease into the next round.
