Iowa State are tipped to see off Mississippi in the second round of March Madness.

The Cyclones are great at forcing mistakes from the opposition, and they are more efficient shooters than the Rebels.

Iowa State go into this second-round matchup on the back of a blowout victory, but they have won just four of their last eight games.

The Cyclones’ form dipped over the final few weeks of the regular season as they lost three times in five games.

They won their last regular season outing though, beating Kansas State 73-57, and they backed that up in their first outing of the Big 12 tournament, beating Cincinnati 76-56.

Iowa State failed to advance any further though, as they then suffered a 96-92 defeat at the hands of BYU.

The Cyclones put that behind them in the first round of March Madness, blowing out Lipscomb in an 82-55 victory.

Mississippi Form

Mississippi also enter this second-round clash in mixed form, having gone 4-5 in their previous nine games.

The Rebels ended February on a three-game losing skid, but won their first two games of March as they beat Oklahoma 87-84 and upset Tennessee 78-76.

They failed to close out the regular season with a win, losing 90-71 at Florida, only to rebound with an 83-80 success against Arkansas in the SEC tournament.

Mississippi fell at the next hurdle though, as they exited the competition with a 62-57 defeat to Auburn.

The Rebels put that behind them in the first round of the national tournament, beating North Carolina 71-64.

Iowa State can force Mississippi to make some costly mistakes in this second-round matchup.

Couple that with efficient shooting of the basketball and you have the recipe for a Cyclones success.
