Northern Kentucky finished the regular season with a 19-12 record and went on to win the Horizon League conference title.

The Norse’s form spluttered over the final few weeks of the season as they lost three of their last seven games.

They did go into the conference tournament on the back of two wins though, beating Detroit Mercy 67-64 and Oakland 78-69 on the road.

That set up Northern Kentucky for the Horizon League tournament and they extended their win streak to four games to reach the final, beating Oakland 81-74 and Youngstown State 75-63.

The Norse then clinched the conference title with a hard-earned 63-61 win against Cleveland State.

Houston Form

Houston compiled a superb 29-2 regular season record, only to fall short in the AAC Conference tournament.

The Cougars responded to a loss to Temple on January 22 with an 11-game win streak to wrap up the regular season.

That run included a 67-65 victory at Memphis in their regular season finale.

Houston kept their run going in the AAC tournament as they downed East Carolina 60-46 and beat Cincinnati 69-48 to set up a final showdown with Memphis.

However, unlike the regular season finale the Cougars came up short against the Tigers, losing 75-65, and that defeat ensured they would not go into March Madness as the #1 team.

Verdict

Northern Kentucky v Houston

Houston slipped up in the conference tournament final, but there will be no slip-up here.

We expect the Cougars to make straightforward work of Northern Kentucky as they advance in March Madness.
