Vermont blew out NJIT 84-57 in the first round, and followed that up with a commanding 79-57 victory against Binghamton.

The Catamounts then wrapped up the conference crown with a 72-59 win against Massachusetts-Lowell.

Marquette Form

Marquette completed the regular season with a 25-6 record and continued their great form as they won the Big East Conference tournament.

The Golden Eagles suffered a disappointing loss to #21 Connecticut last month, but responded with a six-game win streak.

That run included a 69-68 success against #16 Xavier and a 73-71 victory over #19 Creighton as they ensured they would be in good form for the conference tournament.

Marquette kept it going as they battled past St John’s (NY) in overtime in the first round, 72-70.

The Golden Eagles then downed #11 Connecticut 70-68 before clinching the Big East Conference tournament crown with a 65-51 victory over #15 Xavier.

Marquette are the better team and are backed to avoid a first-round embarrassment.

However, they have had issues covering double digit spreads and have been in some close games recently, making Vermont appealing with the points.
