Boston head out on the road for the first time in the NBA Finals series boasting a 2-0 lead after back-to-back home wins.

The Celtics opened up the series with a 107-89 victory, and then doubled their series lead with a 105-98 victory in Game 2.

That Game 2 win continued a superb playoff run that has seen them win 13 of their 15 games, and each of the last nine.

Boston, who put together an NBA-best 64-18 record during the regular season, split the first two games of the series with Miami, but that Game 2 loss has been a rarity.

The Celtics’ rebounded with back-to-back blowout victories on the road, before heading back home to clinch the series with a 118-84 win.

The trend of splitting the first two games of a series continued in the second round as they needed five games to get past Cleveland.

Boston again responded to a Game 2 defeat by winning three straight games, reeling off 106-93, 109-102 and 113-98 wins to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

They met Indiana for a place in the NBA Finals and ruthlessly dispatched the Pacers in four games, winning 133-128 (OT), 126-110, 114-111 and 105-102.

Dallas Mavericks Form

Dallas return home looking to get their first win of the 2024 NBA Finals after losing back-to-back road games.

The Mavericks opened the series with a 107-89 defeat, and they again failed to break the 100-point barrier in Game 2 as they were beaten 105-98.

The defeat was their seventh during a playoff run that has seen them knock out the LA Clippers, Oklahoma City and Minnesota.

Dallas, who went 50-32 during the regular season, made a losing start to the postseason as they were beaten 109-97 by the Clippers in Los Angeles.

The Mavericks responded strongly though, winning four of the next five games to set up a second-round showdown with Oklahoma City.

They split the first four games of the series with the Thunder, but gained the upper-hand with a 104-92 win on the road, before sealing the series with a narrow 117-116 victory at home.

Dallas then made straightforward work of the Western Conference Finals, beating Minnesota in five games.

The Mavericks won the first three games of the series, before rebounding from a 105-100 defeat with a series-clinching 124-103 victory on the road.

It is tough to ignore Boston’s playoff form so far, especially their perfect record on the road.

The Celtics have also had Dallas’ number in recent seasons, so we are leaning towards them as slight underdogs in Game 3.
