Point Spread Pick
These two teams faced off just a couple of nights ago where the Hawks were able to pick up a surprising 122-114 road win over the Celtics. That performance should be difficult to replicate for them tonight however, as the Brad Stevens coached Celtics are likely to make the required adjustments. A key reason for the Hawks win was an offensive explosion by Trae Young, who had 40 points on the night on 70 percent shooting from the field. Considering this was his first game in eight that he had surpassed the 30-point mark, it is unlikely he will have the same level of success again here. The Celtics will however be encouraged that they forced him into eight turnovers, which if repeated, could go a long way to helping Boston pick up the win here. The Hawks have not picked up two straight road wins since the opening two games of the season whilst the Celtics are yet to drop two straight games at home.

The Hawks should once again have trouble dealing with Jayson Tatum tonight, who had 35 points in the first game. Cam Reddish is not a consistent lock down defender yet and should continue to struggle to contain him. The two wing defenders on the bench are Tony Snell and Solomon Hill, but both offer very little offensively. Jaylen Brown should also benefit from this too. Clint Capela was able to dominate the first game on his way to 24 points and 13 rebounds, but the Celtics should have an extra body to throw at him tonight in Daniel Theis. Whilst Theis is undersized he is a quick and active defender and should do well at helping break up the Young and Capela pick and roll. Back the Celtics to bounce back, win and cover the spread tonight.

Game Totals Pick
The last matchup between the two was the first time in five games that a Celtics match has surpassed this total. That is in part to the Celtics having the sixth best defence in the league in terms of opponent points per game. The Hawks are hardly an offensive powerhouse either, ranking 15th in the league in points per game. They were heavily reliant on Youngs scoring outburst in the first game, but any return to normality for him tonight should see they points total take a significant dip here. In the month of February the Celtics are just 26th in the league in terms of pace, and with the Hawks being 18th, a high scoring end to end game is unlikely to break out here today. The Hawks are also in the bottom six in the league in fast break points per game and top six in fast break points allowed, so they do a great job of getting back on defence. Lean towards backing the under on this one.
