Dallas head to Minnesota having overcame early deficits in both of their first two playoff series to advance.

The Mavericks, who went 50-32 in the regular season, dropped their series opener at the LA Clippers, but rebounded to take four of the next five games to advance.

That set up a conference semi-finals series with Oklahoma City, and they again fell behind early as they lost 117-95 on the road.

Dallas hit back with a 119-110 victory on the road, before returning home to claim the series lead with a 105-101 victory.

The Mavericks failed to make it three-in-a-row as they lost 100-96 in Game 4, but they responded to that loss with back-to-back victories, winning 104-92 on the road and 117-116 at home to advance.

Minnesota Timberwolves Form

Minnesota enter this series on the back of two impressive series wins that saw them eliminate Phoenix and defending champions Denver.

The Timberwolves, who went 56-26 in the regular season, sent a message to the rest of their rivals as they swept Phoenix in four games in the first round.

They then made a dream start to the conference semi-finals series with Denver, registering 106-99 and 106-80 wins on the road to take control of the series.

Minnesota surrendered that lead as they lost 117-90 and 115-107 at home, and then fell behind with a 112-92 defeat on the road.

That left the Timberwolves needing to win out to take the series, and they did just that by backing up a 115-70 win at home with a 98-90 victory in Denver.

Dallas have changed a lot since these teams last met, but we still like Minnesota in Game 1.

The Timberwolves have made fast starts to their last two series, unlike the Mavericks, and we are expecting more of the same on Wednesday.
