  • Denver Nuggets won 101-99 when the two teams last met on April 22

Denver Nuggets Form

Denver head out on the road for the first time this series having taken control with back-to-back victories.

The Nuggets marched into the postseason with a 57-25 record that earned them second place in the Western Conference.

They entered the playoffs in good form too, having won four of the final five games on their schedule to set up this meeting with Los Angeles.

Denver drew first blood as they downed the Lakers 114-103 in the opening game of the series last, but the second meeting proved to be much more difficult.

The Nuggets trailed by 20 points at one stage and needed a huge comeback that was completed when Jamal Murray sank a fade-away buzzer-beater to snatch a 101-99 victory.

Los Angeles Lakers Form

Los Angeles return home in need of a victory after losing the first two games of the series in Denver.

The Lakers went 47-35 during the regular season to claim a place in the Play-In Tournament, and they went into that part of the season in fantastic form.

They won 11 of their final 13 regular season games, wrapping up the schedule with a 124-108 victory in New Orleans.

Los Angeles faced the Pelicans on the road in the Play-In Tournament too, and the outcome was the same as they advanced to the postseason with a 110-106 victory.

However, they now find themselves in an early hole in this series, having suffered 114-103 and 101-99 defeats in Denver.

Verdict

Los Angeles may have blown their big chance by surrendering a 20-point lead in Game 2.

Denver have now won 10 straight meetings between those two teams, and until the Lakers prove that they can beat the Nuggets, we have to stick with Nikola Jokic & Co.
