LA Lakers remain one win away from an 18th NBA Championship as they take on Miami Heat in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. LeBron James scored 40 points in Game 5, but Jimmy Butler had another monster game for the Heat to keep them alive in the series.

Los Angeles Lakers Form


The LA Lakers beat Portland 4-1 in the Western Conference playoffs despite losing the first game of the series. It was an identical result against Houston in the semi-finals, losing the first game 112-97 before winning four straight. 

LA advanced to the NBA Finals with 4-1 win against Denver. LeBron James took over Game 5, scoring 38 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists in the 117-107 win.

LA Lakers started the NBA Finals against Miami Heat by winning 116-98 in Game 1. They won 124-114 in Game 2 with James scoring 33 points and Anthony Davis 32 points.

They couldn’t stop Jimmy Butler in Game 3, going down 115-104. James and Davis combined for 50 points to lead Los Angeles to a 102-96 win in Game 4 and a 3-1 series lead.

Miami won 111-108 in Game 5 on the back of another monster game from Butler. James scored 40 points and 13 rebounds but the bench only managed 14 points on 5-20 shooting.

LA Lakers have no major players out for Game 6. Anthony Davis hurt his foot in Game 5 left the game but returned no long after, he is listed as probable.

Center Dwight Howard is starting games but playing limited minutes. Dion Waiters is questionable as he recovers from a groin injury.

Miami Heat lost beat Indiana 4-1 in the Eastern Conference playoffs and beat Milwaukee Bucks 4-1 in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. They won 4-2 against Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals.

Erik Spoelstra’s team lost 116-98 against the LA Lakers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, losing All-Star center Bam Adebayo and point guard Goran Dragic to injury.

Miami lost 124-114 in Game 2 before Jimmy Butler starred in Game 3. His triple double of 40 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds guided Miami to a 115-104 win.

Bam Adebayo returned in Game 4, scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds but Miami lost 102-96. 

Butler took over once again in Game 5, the Heat star with another triple double of 35 points, 11 assists and 12 rebounds. Miami stayed alive with a 111-108 win, Duncan Robinson adding 26 points on 7-13 from 3-point range, Kendrick Nunn with 14 points off the bench.

Heat point guard Goran Dragic lasted 15 minutes in Game 1. He has a foot injury and is listed as questionable for Game 6.
