Los Angeles Clippers at Phoenix Suns Predictions & Tips

Phoenix can clinch a place in the NBA Finals with victory in Game 5.

The Suns showed they can win ugly in Game 4 and by winning they wiped out momentum LA had from the Game 3 win.

Chris Paul has shaken off some more rust and it feels like a matter of time before Devin Booker gets going again.

That could be here as Phoenix ride their excellent home for to victory and a spot in the Finals.

  • Phoenix Suns are 6-1 at home in this season’s playoffs
  • Phoenix Suns have won 5 straight home games
  • Phoenix Suns are on a 10-1 run in the playoffs
  • Phoenix Suns have covered -5.5 in 5 of their 6 home wins so far
  • Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker is averaging 25 points per game in this series
  • Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker has scored -27.5 in his last 3 games
  • Los Angeles Clippers remain with Kawhi Leonard
  • Los Angeles Clippers are 1-4 in their last 5 road games

Head To Head

  • Phoenix Suns lead the all-time series 140-98
  • Phoenix Suns lead the all-time playoff series 7-4

Los Angeles Clippers Form & Team News

Los Angeles fought back from 2-0 down to see off Dallas 4-3 in the first round, and then fought back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Utah 4-2 to set up this meeting with Phoenix.

That victory over Dallas came at a price though. Kawhi Leonard racked up 65 points and 19 rebounds across Games 3 & 4, but he then went down with injury and has not returned.

That meant the pressure was on Paul George to continue to deliver and although he put up 34 points in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, Los Angeles fell to a 120-114 defeat.

He put up another 26 points in Game 2, but when it mattered most he came up short, missing a couple of late free throws that allowed Phoenix the chance to snatch a 104-103 win.

George’s double double (27 points, 15 rebounds) in Game 3, as well as Reggie Jackson’s 23-point showing, helped the Clippers halt their losing ways with a 106-92 win in Game 3.

However, before they could build up any momentum LA fell to an 84-80 defeat at home that means they cannot afford any more defeats.

They desperately could do with Kawhi Leonard being fit for this one, but his knee injury means he will almost certainly sit this out alongside Serge Ibaka (back).

Phoenix Suns Form & Team News

Phoenix’s run to the Western Conference Finals saw them dump out the defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers, and then sweep Denver.

Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton led the charge and it was Booker who lit up the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1.

Booker ran riot with 40 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in his first career triple double, and that played a key role in the Suns running out 120-114 winners.

He was nowhere near as effective in Game 2, but Ayton (24 points, 14 rebounds) and Cameron Payne (29 points) picked up the slack. Ayton’s last-gasp bucket lifted Phoenix to a 104-103 win

It was not all good news coming out of the game though, as Booker sustained a broken nose that forced him to wear a protective mask in Game 3.

That mask appeared to have a major effect on his shooting as he was held to just 15 points in a 106-92 loss, but Booker ditched the mask in Game 4 for an improved showing in an 84-80 win.

That victory means Phoenix have a shot at clinching the series on their home court and they go into the game with a full clean bill of health.
